Phase 1 & 2 Environmental Site Assessments

ES2 provides Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in support of Targeted Brownfields Programs to identify, evaluate, and clean up contaminated properties before real estate transactions, redevelopment, or municipal zoning changes. These services protect buyers from environmental liabilities and unlock problematic or abandoned properties for safe reuse. Our team identifies site conditions and contamination risks, delivering reliable data that supports redevelopment, compliance, and remediation decisions.

NEPA Compliance

ES2 supports Federal agencies in meeting the legal requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) before executing civil works or military construction, or issuing permits. Our staff supports Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), baseline surveys, interagency engagement, and public involvement. ES2 has the knowledge and capability to establish and coordinate integrated teams of environmental specialists, biologists, ecologists, HTRW specialists, wildlife and fisheries specialists, planners, geologists, and field technicians to provide the services our clients’ projects require.

Natural Resource Services

ES2 has always focused on the leading-edge technologies in remote sensing to support its environmental projects. Our combination of technology and natural resource experts allows us to provide high-quality deliverables, including additional GIS data layers for future use. Cultural Resources

ES2 offers Cultural Resource Management (CRM) services to our Federal agency clients to help them comply with historic preservation laws during their planning process and before initiating construction, land transfers, or resource extraction. These specialized services ensure that federal projects do not inadvertently destroy irreplaceable historic buildings, sacred Native American sites, or archaeological resources. ES2 combines the knowledge of our environmental planners with our GIS and Spatial Analysis staff, utilizing GIS to map environmental constraints, analyze land-use patterns, and visualize project impacts. Our team develops a variety of specialized environmental management plans for watersheds, forests, coastal zones, urban areas, and parks to meet environmental objectives. Our team has unique experience shaping plans for flood risk management, navigation channel dredging, port expansions, and hurricane protection systems. Additionally, our team develops land use and master plans that plan long-term development frameworks for local, state, federal, and tribal projects that protect natural resources and integrate green infrastructure.

UAS Inspection & Monitoring

Damage Assessment: ES2 provides rapid, high-resolution aerial inspection, building interior assessment, and situational awareness immediately following disaster events. We have experience deploying the right equipment post-disaster to safely capture critical data from hard-to-reach or hazardous areas. We convert this data into actionable intelligence for municipalities, state agencies, emergency managers, and federal agencies, allowing stakeholders to assess damage levels. We can conduct recurring, scheduled flights and interior scans during disaster recovery to monitor debris clearance, track rebuilding milestones, and identify evolving safety hazards. ES2 delivers interactive web-based geospatial damage dashboards that display color-coded damage ratings for infrastructure, roads, utilities, structures, and 3D interior digital twins.

Rapid Staff-Up & Technical Augmentation

Geospatial Personnel: Our GIS Analysts, developers, and technicians help turn massive amounts of chaotic, post-disaster field data into structured maps and actionable databases. This spatial data is critical for tracking debris clearing progress, routing truck fleets, and validating millions of dollars in federal reimbursements. Our personnel can build and maintain interactive project dashboards and process satellite imagery, manned aircraft photography, bathymetric data, and drone (UAS) data to visually map debris fields, calculate vegetative damage, and identify hidden obstructions. Additionally, our staff can support ground operations by troubleshooting mobile mapping applications (like Esri ArcGIS Field Maps) used by monitors and inspectors on the street.

Coastal Damage Assessment

Coastal Infrastructure and shorelines are under constant stress and can change quickly during a disaster. ES2 provides a team of experts to support both daily operations and disasters. We support daily operations by setting an environmental baseline and delivering accurate drone surveys and data on current conditions. We also locate displaced vessels, identify washed-out docks, debris obstructing waterways and shipping channels, and measure land loss. Following a disaster, having rapid, accurate data is critical to restore operations. We support rapid data collection through UAVs and damage assessments to shorelines, beaches, beneficial use sites, and dune systems; identify qualified debris and volume; and assess the structural stability of docks and levees to ensure they are safe to operate. Our collections are accessible through an interactive real-time GIS Common Operating Picture, which enables stakeholders and project teams to collaborate, flag damage, and access the latest orthomosaics and 3D elevation models. This Common Operating Picture streamlines the reporting and application process for emergency funding, planning beach nourishment projects, and supporting rebuilding efforts.

SME Personnel

ES2 subject matter experts (SMEs) provided rapid mobilization and supported operations 12 hours per day, 7 days per week in support of debris removal operations. Our SMEs provide consulting for difficult debris eligibility determination issues and training of inexperienced personnel. Our SMEs provide consistency to disaster debris management projects and serve as the "eyes and ears" in the field. ES2 provided the flexibility to move ES2 personnel to “hot spots” and address problems as needed, and it provided specialized experience for this unique event. Our staff has responded to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, waterways, and wildfire disaster response missions, providing services ranging from technical assistance to damage assessment.
