Shea Penland 1954-2008

Environmental Science Services, Inc. (Es²) is sadened by the loss of one of its founding principals, Dr. Shea Penland. Shea passed away at his home in New Orleans on March 25, 2008. Shea was an exceptional coastal scientist but most of all a good friend. He will be thoroughly missed by all of his friends and collegues. Es² is committed to continuing the work envisioned by Shea.

Corporate Overview

Es² is a registered engineering firm in the State of Louisiana and provides a wide range of environmental consulting and science support services for industry and government. Established in 1996, Es² is built around high-end computing technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), photogrammetry, remote sensing, and image processing. Current and spatially accurate information and GIS databases provide a powerful science tool for managing and solving today’s environmental challenges from emergency contingency planning to oil spill response and coastal landloss assessments.

Es² builds on the combined experience of its key personnel in conjunction with its network of associates to create expert teams that can address environmental issues along the Gulf Coast and other regions of the world. Every project is different, and Es² has the capability of establishing and coordinating integrated teams of engineers, marine surveyors, geologists, biologists, ecologists, oceanographers, toxicologists, wildlife and fisheries specialists, contingency planners, spill response managers, professional landmen or field technicians to provide the necessary complement of services needed for the particular project. Our technical expertise and experience in conjunction with our in house computing and graphic capability allow us to produce customized deliverables designed to meet the specific needs of the client.
