- Robert Simmons is the president of Es² and has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, much of which is in the area of oil spill response management. Robert Simmons has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and holds a Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Louisiana in both mechanical and environmental engineering. Prior to becoming a consultant in 1998, Robert was employed by Exxon Company USA Production Department for 16 years as an engineer, which included various professional and supervisory assignments in drilling engineering, facility engineering, and other project management. While still at Exxon, he served as a Task Force Operations Manager in Prince William Sound, AK during the Exxon Valdez spill cleanup in 1989 and has been directly involved in the field assessment, management and science support on hundreds of other spills and marine casualties since then. He has developed and conducted numerous spill response drills and customized training sessions on various spill response related topics. Robert is recognized in the Gulf Coast spill response community and is currently retained by the Water Quality Insurance Syndicate (WQIS) as a Surveyor and Principal Consultant to manage and respond to marine pollution incidents involving their insured’s.
- Andrew Milanes has a degree in Civil Engineering and over 23 years of professional experience in civil and environmental engineering. He holds Professional Engineering (P.E.) registrations in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. He is also a certified GIS professional and his skills in GIS, photogrammetry, and remote sensing technologies allow Es² to develop unique and cost-effective solutions to the environmental needs of our client’s. He has completed hundreds of GIS/Mapping projects for applications including oiling delineation, Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA), historical land loss analysis, beach erosion, pipeline mapping, pipeline repair documentation, and wetland restoration monitoring. Andrew also has extensive fieldwork experience on various projects including marine casualties and spills, oiling assessment and delineation, water and soil sampling, spill over flight photography, in-situ burns, bathymetry and bottom type classification surveys, and GPS surveys.
- David Alford, GIS Manager at Es², has over 20 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) development, implementation and analysis through civil, military, and private projects. David’s breadth of experience in GIS includes environmental resource management, endangered species management plans, utilities/infrastructure systems management, digital cartography and custom programming of web-based ArcGIS Server Applications, including Mobile Applications. A Certified GIS Professional (GISP), David has developed a wide variety of solutions using ESRI's ArcGIS for over 500 environmental projects relating to wetland delineations, Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), and Biological Assessments (BAs), Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and Habitat Evaluation Procedures (HEP). When he’s not building GIS applications, you can find David fishing and exploring along the Louisiana coast and inland waterways.
